Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator

The primary responsibility of the Volunteer Coordinator is to recruit, source, and manage volunteers. Their goal is to ensure that the organization is always supported with qualified, enthusiastic, and reliable individuals that are correctly utilized for the fulfillment of the mission.

Key Functions

  • Recruit and source volunteers for NOAF events and activities

  • Attend community events on behalf of NOAF

  • Lead canvassing efforts

  • Provide direction and oversight to interns

  • Direct volunteers to appropriate programs

Job Responsibilities:

  • Source and recruit volunteers through various modalities (outreach, e-mail, social media community events, etc.)

  • Collect and record information on volunteers’ availabilities and skills

  • Arrange and/or provide for appropriate training when needed

  • Produce schedules and systems to coordinate volunteer activities

  • Coordinate individual and/or teams of volunteers for NOAF’s events and activities and community partner events as requested

  • Communicate regularly with volunteers to ensure they are engaged and supported

  • Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events in a timely manner

  • Keep and maintain detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments in a confidential manner

  • Εnsure the purpose of the organization and its actions are clearly communicated to volunteers and supporters

  • Represent NOAF at community events as requested

Qualifications:

  • Have access to reliable transportation and have a valid driver’s license and liability insurance if using own vehicle

  • Proven experience and engagement as volunteer, staff or team coordinator

  • Experience in recruiting volunteers through various modalities

  • Working knowledge of databases and MS Office (especially Excel)

  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse people

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines;

  • Self-managed; acceptance of personal responsibility for results and own success; requires limited oversight, but able to communicate effectively with Executive Director, board, and contract staff members.

  • Ability to give and receive feedback in a constructive manner

  • Dedication to and consistent embodiment of NOAF’s mission and core values that center economic, racial, and gender equity.

  • Display a positive attitude, show empathy for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

Job Classification: This is a full-time position. Salary for the position is competitive and commensurate with prior experience.
